Once you start investing, you'll be able to see how your investments have changed in value over time in the 'Your investments' section of the app.
Your investments are organised by account type - for example a stocks and shares ISA or a general investment account (GIA). Selecting an account shows the investments within it and how they've performed over time.
Understanding what you're looking at can help you feel more confident about how your investments are doing.
What you'll see
Within each account, you'll typically see:
Account value
The total value of everything in the account - including money you have invested (which changes as the marked moves) and any uninvested cash.
Your investments
This shows how much of your money is invested in each investment or fund you've chosen.
Cash balance
Any money that hasn't been invested yet. This might be money recently added to your account that's waiting to be invested, cash that's ready to be withdrawn, or interest you've earned on any uninvested cash already on the account.
Change in value (£ and %)
You'll also see how the value of your investments has changed since you first started investing. The value is updated each weekday and is shown in two ways:
£ change: how much your investment has increased or decreased in pounds
% change: the same change shown as a percentage
If the value has increased, you'll see an arrow pointing up. ⬆️
If the markets have fallen, it may show as a loss and the arrow will point down. ⬇️
What those changes mean
Investment values change because the underlying investments move in value. Seeing your balance rise and fall is a normal part of investing. These changes often reflect short-term market movements, rather than long-term trends.
For this reason, many investors focus more on how their investments are performing over longer periods rather than day-to-day changes.
What to keep in mind
It's natural to check your investments from time to time, but short-term movements don't always reflect the bigger picture. Seeing a drop in value can feel uncomfortable, but reacting quickly to market changes can sometimes mean selling at a low point.
Looking at your portfolio occasionally - and keeping your long-term goals in mind - can help you stay focused on why you started investing in the first place.
Within the account overview, you can also view your transaction history, manage the account, download documents and reports and learn more about your fees.
What statements will I get?
You'll receive quarterly and annual valuation statements for your investment portfolio. These will be available to download at any time in your 'Documents' tab.
