Funding Your Savings Account

Updated over a week ago

How do I fund my savings account?

To fund your account, you’ll need to send money from your nominated bank account to your Holding account.

Use your Holding account for deposits

Your Holding account is a secure bank account. It acts as a bridge between your nominated bank and your chosen savings account. Add money to it, then follow the steps in the app to move it to your chosen savings account.

Your payment details are in the app

To see your Holding account payment details, go to “Your details” in the “Save” section of the app.

We’ll never include payment details in an email

For your safety, always log in to the app to view the payment information for your Holding account.

Make the payment from your nominated bank account

For security reasons, we only accept deposits from the bank account you’ve linked to Savings by MoneySuperMarket. You can check and change your nominated bank at any time. Just follow the instructions in this Help Centre article.

How long do deposits take?

Most deposits will arrive in your holding account within a few hours. We'll email you when the money arrives.

If you've already chosen where to save your money, it will move from your holding account to your chosen savings account automatically. You don't need to do anything.

We make these moves on weekdays, so it may take a little time to show in your chosen account. We'll email you again when the money has been added.

What is a holding account?

The holding account is a secure account provided by Bondsmith Savings Nominees Ltd. Money in your holding account is held with a UK bank (currently HSBC Bank plc) and is protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), subject to FSCS limits.

Your holding account acts as a bridge between your nominated account and your chosen savings account. Use the payment details in "Your details" to add money to your holding account. Then follow the steps in the app to move it into your chosen savings account.

If you have both a savings account and a cash ISA with Savings by MoneySuperMarket, you'll have two separate holding accounts, each with different payment details. Always check the app to make sure you're using the right details.

Any money you add to a cash ISA holding account counts towards your ISA allowance.

You won't earn any interest on money in your holding account.

We'll never send payment details by email. For your safety, always log in to the app to view the payment information for your holding account.
